Blend and Origin
Cape Mentelle Rosé 2018
The grapes for this blend of shiraz (65%), grenache (15%), tempranillo (7%), sangiovese (4%), zinfandel (4%), mourvèdre (3%) and viognier (2%) were sourced from the estate’s Crossroads vineyard, as well as from two sangiovese and tempranillo growers in the region who harvested especially excellent fruits. Winemakers used a combination of skin soaking, direct pressing and – for the shiraz – saignée techniques, fermented the wine in stainless steel and then allowed it to rest on its lees to develop its complex character
Serve dishes that say summer
This rosé is excellent by itself as an aperitif. Or try a glass alongside an assortment of the freshest sashimi.
The delicate flavors of an Asian-inspired satay chicken or grilled vegetable skewers also pair well.
