  • Product Details

It may be blushing a delectable shade of rose, but with its intense red-fruit aromas and tastes of strawberries and cherries, this rosé champagne isn’t one to be shy. Veuve Clicquot’s 66th vintage emerged from a harvest which, against all odds, delivered supreme fruit. And, blended with fine red wine, the Rosé 2012 is a uniquely vivacious expression of that year.

The vintage takes its unique strength and aromatic intensity from a proportion of wines aged in large oak casks, while a blend with 13% of red still wine from the Pinot Noir of Bouzy, creates this luscious Rosé.

A RESPLENDENT ROSÉ

MADAME'S VISION IN PINK
MADAME'S VISION IN PINK

Veuve Clicquot’s passion for rosé began with Madame Clicquot – a visionary spirit known even today as ‘La Grande Dame of Champagne’. Madame, who took the House’s reins when her husband died, pioneered the first known vintage champagne in 1810. Then, in 1818, she innovated again – this time with rosé. Instead of adding elderberries, the conventional way to turn wine pink, she married her classic champagne with some of her fine Bouzy reds... creating the first blended rosé.

A HARVEST TO BEHOLD
A HARVEST TO BEHOLD

Veuve Clicquot Vintage Rosé 2012 is a vivacious reflection of Madame’s trailblazing work, some two centuries on. This vintage – the unique expression of a single year – emerged from a remarkable season in Champagne. 2012 had begun catastrophically for winemakers with heavy rains and late frosts, then terrible hailstorms, which ruined 1,000 hectares of vineyard in Champagne. Incredibly, fortunes changed in August and ideal conditions delivered supreme grapes.

FOR SIPPING OR CELLARING
FOR SIPPING OR CELLARING

Blended with red wine from the Pinot Noir grapes of Champagne's Bouzy village, recalling Madame Clicquot’s very first blended rosé, this champagne is the perfect accompaniment to fine dining. The House’s 66th vintage brims with all the structure and character for which Veuve Clicquot is adored across the world. And, while the Rosé 2012's intense aromas and fruity palate will delight the Clicquot lover now, the wine shows great potential for aging in the cellars too.

Food pairing:
CHOOSE RICH DISHES AND SUBTLE PINKS

Starter

Begin with a rich, meaty seafood dish – we think lobster or langoustine would be the perfect shade for this rosé.

Main

Embrace the champagne’s fruitiness with succulent pink meats. Veal or duck would pair beautifully – cooked just the way you like.
