Despite challenging weather, 2012 revealed exceptional fruit. And so this vintage – the unique expression of that single year – was born. Fresh and delicate on the nose, with a lively, balanced palate, it can be enjoyed now or aged for years to come.

FRESH AND LIVELY WITH FABULOUS STRUCTURE

Appearance

Bright yellow with hints of gold.

Aroma

At first, fresh, delicate and saline. Then, juicy candied apricots and toasted notes lead to a complex bouquet of figs, dried fruits, honey, truffle and mocha, alongside soft vanilla and nutmeg.

Taste

This well-structured vintage has a lively, yet balanced palate. Hints of sweet mirabelle plum tart mingle with candied citrus and roasted pears, before a refreshingly nutty finish.

2012 was a year of extremes, with heavy rain in spring, then hail which ruined 1,000 hectares of vines in Champagne.
 

But despite dire predictions, good weather finally brought the grapes to optimal ripeness.
 

Like all Veuve Clicquots, the 2012 is dominated by Pinot Noir, (51%), with Chardonnay (34%) and Meunier (15%).
 

With the Pint Noir's influence and some ageing in oak, the 2012 has all the character of a classic.
