    As part of Ruinart’s annual Carte Blanche contemporary art commission, this year’s chosen artist David Shrigley has designed a limited-edition art work in the form of a jeroboam of Blanc de Blancs with a unique graphic label and draughts board casing that doubles as an ice cooler. Each of these 30 limited edition pieces is a numbered collectors’ piece signed by the artist.

    The black-and-white motif on the casing that conceals the bottle features statements that are characteristic of David Shrigley's work. They reveal the hidden side of champagne production, the savoir faire and the relationship with nature - aspects that marked the artist during his visits to Reims and the vineyards.

    David Shrigley decided to use a jeroboam size because of its exceptional capacity for preservation. As the ratio of oxygen to the volume of wine in a jeroboam is divided by four, relative to a conventional bottle, the wine ages less quickly and expresses more complexity, freshness and aromatic variety.

    Ruinart Blanc de Blancs Non Vintage

    The intensity and simultaneous lightness of Ruinart Blanc de Blancs is achieved by using a blend of 100% chardonnay, mainly from premiers crus in Côte des Blancs (69%) and Montagne de Reims (31%), and 20-25% reserve wines. The chalkiness of the soil allows for a pure expression of the grape’s flavours, and ageing in the crayères develops its aromatic richness.
