Details
The years 1988, 1989 and 1990 have gone down in history as three of the most extraordinary in Champagne. Krug Collection 1989 has been kept in ideal conditions in the maison's cellars and now, more than 30 years later, it offers layers of deep flavours and aromas, enhanced by an astonishing freshness, elegance and finesse.
One of only three vintages to be held back in Krug's cellars after the original release, Collection 1989 is extremely rare – only 451 bottles were left on the lees until October 2020 when they received their cork.

TASTING NOTES:
Exotic with a seemingly endless finish

Appearance

Deeply intense golden yellow.

Aroma

Exotic, complex notes of honey with spices and white fruit, truffle, slightly browned apples, a hint of high-toned flowers, yeast and a gentle nuttiness in the background.

Taste

A deep palate with bright, high, youthful tones of pear, green apple, citrus fruit, marmalade, fresh figs and even a touch of earth. It has a long finish with undertones of mineral and spices.

BLEND & ORIGIN CHAMPAGNE

BLEND AND ORIGIN:
Krug Collection 1982

The blend comprises pinot noir (47%), chardonnay (29%) and meunier (24%) harvested from 25 different villages in the region.

The year 1989 was hot, sunny and dry with some light frosts and alternating periods of mild and cool weather in the spring, which led to early ripening, a beautiful maturity and this full, long and opulent champagne with excellent potential for ageing.

FOOD PAIRING KRUG

FOOD PAIRING:
Serve with rich, unctuous dishes

Krug Collection 1989 is a delightful accompaniment to foie gras.

The creaminess of the champagne perfectly complements fish in cream sauce.

Finish with a dessert created with autumn fruit; or simply some slices of aged Comté cheese.
