Details
It's not every day you get to discover the elegant intensity of Krug Clos d'Ambonnay – a rare champagne that expertly reveals the kind of magic you can expect when you focus solely on a single grape (pinot noir) taken from a single plot (Clos d'Ambonnay) in a single year (2006).
The year's generous yield of rich grapes resulted in a balanced champagne with full flavours and aromas, further finessed with a stay of 15 years in Krug's historic cellars. It's one for the collection.

BLEND & ORIGIN CHAMPAGNE

BLEND AND ORIGIN:
Krug Clos d'Ambonnay 2006

Krug Clos d'Ambonnay 2006 is made from 100% pinot noir grown in a tiny walled plot of just 0.68 hectares, located in the heart of Ambonnay – one of the most distinguished villages for pinot noir in the Champagne region.

The plot's 2006 harvest was of particularly good quality, producing grapes of excellent health and with a marvellous concentration.

After 15 years in Krug's cellars, this particular vintage is now showing an extraordinary finesse that will only gain with the passage of time.

Exceptionally rare, only 4,514 bottles have been released, each one individually numbered.

A virtuoso soloist:
The power of a single plot

When Krug introduced its first vintage of Krug Clos d’Ambonnay back in 2007, it did so with a determination to show the kind of rare excellence that can be achieved when you focus on the strengths of a single grape variety (pinot noir), harvested from a single plot (Clos d'Ambonnay) across a single year.
The extremely limited production was a triumph, with serious collectors eagerly anticipating further releases.

KRUG CLOS D'AMBONNAY 2006

A secret garden:
The discovery of a unique walled plot

In 1991, Krug unearthed a tiny parcel surrounded by a protective wall in Ambonnay, its favourite village and largest source of pinot noir. The petite 0.68-hectare site was purchased soon after and the first vintage produced in 1995.
Kept secret until its release in 2007, Krug Clos d'Ambonnay is now synonymous with the kind of rare vintage champagnes any collector would be happy to have in their cellar.

KRUG CLOS D'AMBONNAY 2006

The rarest release:
A vintage worth adding to your collection

Clos d'Ambonnay champagne is the rarest Krug champagne you can get your hands on.
As the Clos d’Ambonnay vineyard is so tiny, production is limited – around 5,000 per vintage – and it’s not made every year.
The newest 2006 vintage is only the sixth to have been released in the 30 years since the family acquired the vineyard, meaning only around 30,000 bottles of Krug Clos d’Ambonnay have ever been released.
