TASTING NOTES:
Where creaminess meets minerality
Very pale salmon pink.
On the nose it has complex and intense aromas of citrus fruit, white peaches and bitter almonds, which are complemented by a hint of delicate florals.
Full bodied and layered with a long, mineral finish that evokes the Mediterranean sea breezes that blow through Château Galoupet's vineyards.

Director, Château Galoupet

BLEND AND ORIGIN:
Château Galoupet Cru Classé Rosé 2021
Made from a blend of grape varieties – mostly grenache (49%) with syrah (15%), tibouren (15%), rolle (12%), cinsault (7%) and mourvèdre, cabernet, sémillon (2%) – grown over 41 individual plots and gently pressed to protect against oxidation, this first vintage is the result of an unusually late and long harvest caused by 2021’s inclement weather.
Partially aged in oak, 38% of the wines used to craft the final blend were vinified and aged for four to five months in 600-litre barrels (50% new and 50% one year old).

A powerful regeneration:
The reawakening of Château Galoupet
In July 2019, when managing director Jessica Julmy first set eyes on Château Galoupet – one of just 18 Cru Classé estates in Provence – she saw a sleeping beauty: a spectacular yet fragile Cru Classé, which had more woodlands than vines and as such a unique ecosystem that needed to be nurtured. Jessica’s ambition is to create a sanctuary for local biodiversity to craft exemplary terroir wines in the most respectful way to the environment. Over the past two years, Château Galoupet has been buzzing with activity. Local and international specialists in geology, oenology, regenerative viticulture, agroforestry, apiculture, biodiversity, landscape gardening and environmental infrastructure have all been pooling their skills and ideas, to analyse the soils, the climate, the winds and the water resources, and making an inventory of every living species on the estate. No stone has been left unturned to return Château Galoupet to its best natural state and carry it into the future.

Promoting biodiversity:
A commitment to nature
Committed to nurturing the biodiversity within the unique eco system of its 77 hectares of woodland and 69 hectares of vineyard, Château Galoupet has partnered with local experts to help with regenerating the soils, nurturing the vines and creating a thriving natural haven to attract wildlife. The estate is proudly home to 200 beehives and one of only 12 bee fertilisation stations in the world, serving as a research centre for the French Observatory of Apidology (OFA).

A new way to package rosé:
Progressive Packaging
Studies show that packaging counts for up to 40% of a winery’s carbon footprint – a statistic that led to the estate completely rethinking the way it bottles its wines in order to save energy during the production process and contribute to lower carbon emissions during transportation. Its Cru Classé Rosé is bottled in lightweight 70% recycled amber glass, while Galoupet Nomade comes in an innovative flat recyclable bottle made from 100% recycled prevented ocean plastic (POP), 40 % spatially smaller and 10 times lighter than the average bottle.
