Ripe cherry colour with ruby reflections.
Elegant and fresh on the nose with deep aromas of red berries, garrigue, sweet spices and graphite.
The palate is expressive, ample and fresh, with ripe tannins and notes of black fruit (including blueberries and blackcurrants), vanilla, cinnamon, graphite and nutmeg. Also present are hints of rosemary, while a good acidity gives exceptional length.
Made from 100% fully ripened, organic tinta de toro grapes from low-yielding, non-irrigated vines aged between 50 and 120 years, this fruit-forward vintage is a reflection of the weather conditions of the Toro region in 2017.
During the first half of the ripening period, violent thunderstorms replenished the underground water reserves resulting in earlier-than-usual ripening and concentrated grapes.
These grapes, harvested by hand from more than 100 parcels, were also sorted by hand at optimal ripeness.
After maceration, fermentation and some time spent in stainless steel tanks, the wine was aged for 18 months in a mix of 60% new and 40% second-use French oak barrels before being bottled in July 2019.
