Mojito Cocktails

August 2, 2018
Born in Cuba and one of the country's cultural icons, the mojito, remains one of the most popular cocktails of all. Legendary American author Ernest Hemingway famously discovered the mojito at Havana's La Boguedita del Medio and fell in love, raising it to where it is today. It is La Bodeguita del Medio that claims to be the spiritual home of the mojito in Havana. However, the mojito can trace its roots back to the 16th century as records show that 'El Draque' was in principle a mojito with aguardiente (an anise-flavoured liqueur derived from sugar cane) instead of rum, until the latter surfaced in the late 17th century.
The combination of sweetness, zingy citrus, and mint flavors were the perfect complement to the hot, sticky weather of the Caribbean quickly making it the drink of choice in Havana, and has remained so through many generations. The most adventurous drinkers will enjoy our mojito variations with cognac and smoky whisky.
