How to decant wine
Every wine should be decanted, regardless of age. The process allows air into the wine and lets aromas develop properly. In young wines, decanting helps soften the tannins. For older bottles, it also helps to separate the sediment from the wine. Hold the decanter in one hand using four fingers to steady the base, then gently pour the wine from the bottle at an angle of about 135°. Watch out for the sediment and stop before it appears; it would really defeat the purpose otherwise.
