    Richard Hennessy

Hennessy has blended 100 of its oldest eaux-de-vie – aged in old barrels for up to 200 years – with younger examples to create this incomparable cognac. Once blended, it gains complexity and power from five years in younger casks, with the wood emphasising the structure and character of the eaux-de-vie. This also gives Richard Hennessy its darker colour.

The Ultimate Rarity

Faces
Faces

In 1765, Richard Hennessy laid the foundations for a priceless collection of his most exceptional eaux-de-vie. Since then, eight generations of the Hennessy family have enriched the founder's warehouse with their own contributions. The rarest of all the Hennessy cognacs, comprising a blend that contains eaux-de-vie from each of these eight generations, Richard Hennessy pays homage to the founder, without whom an incredible 250-year history would not have been possible.

Places
Places

In the iconic Hennessy cellars, over 300,000 casks hewn from 100-year-old French oak trees stand, in dim light, holding their treasure. The founder’s cellar is a symbol of centuries of heritage and expertise. Each eaux-de-vie has been aged for at least 50 years , and many are over 100 years old. Once at their peak potential, they are put in large wicker-encased glass demijohns to preserve their exceptional qualities. These eaux-de-vie are then used to create the rarest cognacs, such as Richard Hennessy.

Secrets
Secrets

The success of the Hennessy maison rests upon a unique and long-standing partnership between the founding Hennessy family and a line of trusted master blenders from the Fillioux family. James Hennessy first selected Jean Fillioux to be his master blender in the early 1800s, and it was seventh-generation master blender Yann Fillioux who created the Richard Hennessy blend in 1996.
